In this presentation, SA Smythe addresses recent changes in the regulation of legal residency and pathways to citizenship in Italy. Smythe thinks alongside Trans Studies and Black Studies scholars regarding the banality of cultural and political citizenship. Their aim is to resist normative regimes of representation that disregard the “other” in contemporary European migration.
