Apply now to the 2019 Advanced Research Seminar!

 History     Nov 5 2018 - Nov 6 2018 | 11:30 PM - 11:30 PM UCI History

The application for this year’s Advanced Research Seminar is now open! You can apply between now and November 5th (at 11:59pm) at bit.ly/historyseminar.

What is it? The UCI History Department's Advanced Research Seminar is a two-quarter research course for upper-division history students who are interested in learning advanced research skills and completing a capstone research paper on a topic of their choice. In the class, a small group of students will work with Professor Emily Baum to improve their research techniques and analytic thinking. The culminating project is not only an opportunity to study something you’re really interested in, it also can be used in the future as a writing sample for internship, career or graduate school applications. This course can be found in the catalogue as History 193 & History 194 and will be taught in Winter 2019 & Spring 2019. Students must complete both quarters of the seminar. Students will receive major credit for each quarter (193/194 each count as a single upper-division History course). All History juniors & seniors are welcome to apply. Applicants should have already completed History 100W (in some cases, a student completing History 100W in the Winter may be accepted).

If you have any questions about the program, please contact Samantha Engler (Undergraduate Program Coordinator) at englers@uci.edu or Professor Emily Baum at baume@uci.edu.
