European Languages and Studies Visiting Scholar João Luiz Teixeira works on American popular culture (Nirvana) and draws heavily from critical theory and performance studies. He draws from his personal experience growing up in Bahia to discuss the type of knowledge transmitted (and community forged) through extreme musical performance.
