Undergraduates Learning from AAPI Leaders

A UCI Undergraduate Reflects on the AAPI Leaders Research Team

Next week, Tuesday, May 25, 2021, 12:00-1:00 p.m, the Learning from our AAPI Leaders Research Team will meet. Learning from our AAPI Leaders is an archival/oral history/video project documenting the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in Orange County. The project was Initially inspired by the 150th anniversary of the city of Santa Ana. The research team, led by faculty and staff in Asian American Studies and the UCI Libraries, pivoted towards documenting the dual impacts of COVID-19 and racism. In anticipation of this event, we're spotlighting some of the participants in the event. You can register for the event here. Taylor Nakatsuka will be one of the community roundtable participants.

Taylor Nakatsuka was born and raised in Northern California and is a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of California, Irvine studying English and Asian American Studies. In her spare time, she can often be found working on 3 different crochet projects, buying too many books, re-watching Studio Ghibli films, or petting her dog and her brother’s cat. In the future, she hopes to become a children’s book editor who supports and advocates for marginalized authors and readerships. She is particularly interested in Asian American and Japanese American stories and is so grateful to be a part of the Learning from our AAPI Leaders project.
