Kavanaugh and Blasey Ford

How can work in various fields help us put in perspective the contentious debate over the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court? What is new and familiar about the debate and the way it has been covered in various media?  How does it reflect on the political scene as we approach the midterm elections and what does it say about the cultural reverberations of the #MeToo movement thus far?

These are the questions that this "pop-up” panel, organized by UCI's Forum for the Academy and the Public, will address, drawing on the expertise of local faculty in the Schools of Humanities, Law, and Social Sciences who work on topics ranging from sexual assault to Congressional procedures.

Moderators: Amy Wilentz (Literary Journalism) & Jeffrey Wasserstrom (History)

Panelists: Matthew Beckmann (Political Science), Sharon Block (History), Jane Stoever (Law), and Michael Tesler (Political Science)
