In Measure for Measure, young Isabella is preparing to join the Order of St. Clare before the plight of her brother Claudio draws her into the corrupt dealings and moral dilemmas of the city. But who were the St. Clares? Find out at this special pre-show event, which will take place outside the New Swan Theater before our evening performance of Measure for Measure. Dramaturg Neah Lekan will share the background of the play and facilitate a pre-show discussion about the nunnery and female liberation in Measure for Measure. This once-in-a-season opportunity is free and open to all, with or without show admission.

Neah Lekan is a Ph.D. student in English at the Johns Hopkins University, where she specializes in English historical drama. She has brought her literary research and theatrical training to New Swan this summer as Assistant Dramaturg for the Festival and Dramaturg for Measure for Measure.
