Visualizing Life Under Communism: A Conversation with Joes Segal of the Wende Museum
This event will feature Joes Segal who will discuss the varied exhibitions that the Wende Museum puts on to give visitors a sense of the many ways that art and politics and daily life intersected in Communist Party states in the Soviet bloc in the past and continues intersect in countries such as the People's Republic of China and Vietnam. Segal, in addition to being the chief curator and head of programming for the Wende Museum, is the author of the book Art and Politics: Between Purity and Propaganda and co-editor of the collection Divided Dreamworlds? The Cultural Cold War in East and West. Jeffrey Wasserstrom, a China specialist at UCI who has collaborated with the Wende Museum, will moderate the discussion.
