Join us May 15th, 2025!

The Comparative Literature Undergraduate Conference in Critical Theory, titled "Reading: Theory", provides students the opportunity to share work that engages with comparative and critical theories from multiple disciplines that have been influential to their undergraduate studies, including cultural studies, ethnic studies, philosophy, anthropology, visual studies, and rhetoric. Presentations may read the work of one particular theorist or can be creative and critical uses of theoretical paradigms to read cultural or political phenomena.

The first annual conference will be held in person at UC Irvine on May 15th, 2025. We welcome applications from undergraduates currently enrolled at any two- or four-year college or university. Conference presentations will be a maximum of ten minutes long and may consist of reading a paper (approximately 1,200-1,500 words) and/or presenting a slideshow.

How can I apply to present?

To apply, send a title and brief abstract for your presentation (150-250 words) to the Undergraduate Coordinator, Nicki Giles, nagiles@uci.edu, by April 1st, 2025. Please write "Undergraduate Conference Application" in the subject line.
