UCI Center for Asian Studies
Access Asia
WELCOME EVENT

Monday · October 17 · 12 pm

Access Asia monthly gathering, sponsored by the Center for Asian Studies, is geared towards fostering and promoting a thriving community of graduate students and scholars working on Asia. We hope to bring about and facilitate new exciting research and active dialogues on how to engage and approach Asia in our increasingly interconnected world from across different epistemes.

This fall, we are pleased to invite scholars across UCI, graduate students and faculty alike, whose works and interests lead them to engage with Asia to join us for our first Access Asia Gathering on Monday, October 17th, 2022 at 12 pm PST at Humanities Gateway Patio for light refreshments, (nonalcoholic) drinks, and conversations. You may also bring your own brown bag lunch.

In this exciting academic year 2022-23, we see our upcoming 4 speaker series events and 1 graduate student professional development workshop as an opportunity for graduate students and emerging young scholars to share and develop their research projects and ideas. Each speaker series event hopes to bring 2-3 graduate students and young scholars to join a panel-discussion-like format to discuss the developments of their research projects. The graduate student professional development workshop intends to provide graduate students with training to grow as successful scholars. The graduate student workshop for this year will be on publishing journal articles.

If you are interested in presenting/discussing your work as one of our guest speakers or lead our publishing workshop, please contact us.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Warmly,
