Join us for this special evening on Verdi's Falstaff and Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor. Why is Verdi's opera such a powerful adaptation of Shakespeare's city comedy? What musical possibilities does this comedy harbor, as seen in New Swan's original musical adaptation, The Merry Wives of Windsor Cove?

Hosted by Julia Lupton, this event will feature opera clips curated by Kenneth Reinhard and additional musical commentary by Daniel Keeling, who performed as Nym in Verdi's Falstaff, along with many other roles from the classical repertoire.

This event is currently planned as a hybrid event with a Zoom option; information forthcoming.

Kenneth Reinhard is Research Professor of Comparative Literature at UCLA and a contributor to educational programs at LA Opera.
Daniel Keeling is Assistant Professor of Teaching in Music Theater and Sung Theater at UCI's Department of Drama.
Julia Lupton is Co-Director of the New Swan Shakespeare Center.
