Quality
- This camera has several recording factors of Raw Standard/Light which records in Canon Cinema Raw Light (CRM) a 12-bit recording format, XF-AVC (ALL-I or Long GOP) a 10-bit recording format (.MXF), and MP4 in (HEVC and H.264) for 10-bit HEVC YCC422 or YCC420 and 8-bit H.264 YCC420. The main quality difference between these different recording factors is in their color depth from the bit rate from 12/10/8.
- One factor to consider when recording is the playback feature, when recording in CRM or MXF files you will not be able to use native preview programs on Mac or Windows computers, you are only able to preview these files on specialized software or editing software. While recording on CRM or MXF you will want to be using a V60 SDXC with a writing speed of 250 MBps. With two SD slots, you are also able to have two SDs either in a dual record system for coverage or with a proxy recording.
- Beyond its sensor, it also sports an in-built ND Filters with a 2/4/6 stop and extension for 8/10 stops.
- The C70 also supports both Clog 2 and 3, allowing for a higher dynamic range on Clog 2.
- While reducing total button count you are also able to access several quick activation features on the onscreen menu toggling Peaking 1 & 2, Zebra 1 & 2, display LUT, and Wave formats, as well as being able to change recording factors on the quick menu.
Support Gear
- The C70 is an RF Camera requiring adapters for all non-RF lenses.
- The C70 native audio ports are two mini-XLR ports and one 3.5mm jack port, within the C70 case we add one mini-XLR to XLR adapter to use most audio gear.
