Two Great Local Internships Available: one in Laguna, the other on campus. Deadline next Tuesday, May 1st at noon

This is your lucky day, procrastinators! We extended the deadline for these two paid internships: one in Laguna during Summer 18, the other here on campus Fall 18 with new UCI Museum registrar, Amy Lim. You have until next Tuesday, May 1st at noon to send your application(s) to Professor Whiting (with a copy to me).

Laguna Art Museum Summer 18: Hours and Funding: $2000 for 60 hours
Intern with  Marinta Skupin in the Education Department to create K-12 programming and materials related to the museum’s current and upcoming exhibitions. The intern should have an interest in art education and public programming in a museum setting and in California art and California history, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and committed attention to detail.

The Irvine Museum Collection at UCI  FALL 2018: $1000 for 60 hours
Intern on campus with UCI Museum Registrar Amy Lim creating object files, an inventory of the UCI art collection, organizing data in Embark, and other tasks. The intern should be detail-oriented, meticulous in gathering information, and comfortable with computer work.

Application Details for Laguna Art Museum and Irvine Museum Collection: Submit the following application materials for both the Laguna and UCI Museum internships to Professor Cecile Whiting at cwhiting@uci.edu with a copy to Cecilia Flanagan at c.flanagan@uci.edu:

·         Cover letter (one-page maximum) describing your interest and qualifications.
·         Your unofficial transcript reflecting a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher in art history courses at UCI and/or 3.0 overall GPA
·         Your resume (one-page maximum) including art history courses completed at UCI (you may attach a list of classes separately if needed), any previous internships, and any other relevant work, travel or volunteer experience.
·         Your art history faculty reference(s). You may also submit other references if you think they would be useful to our selection process.
