“Digital Armenian Workshop," aims at showcasing and bringing into conversation local digital content creators in the endangered Western Armenian language. The event will consist of a panel discussion that will bring together language experts and language activists to critically discuss language vitality efforts, and tables set up by Western Armenian App creators, software developers, digital publishers, and social media content creators.

The interactive event seeks to demonstrate the link between research, theory, and practice for both our graduate and undergraduate students in our Armenian language courses, as well as for the campus community interested in questions of language vitality and language acquisition.

Featured panelists include: Dr. Shushan Karapetian, Director of USC Institute of Armenian Studies, Dr. Hagop Gulludjian, Holder of Kachigian Lectureship in Armenian Language and Culture at UCLA, Dr. Razmik Panossian, Director of the Armenian Communities Department at Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Dr. Hrayr Varaz Khanjian, author of #jivjiv #twitterpoem, and Dr. Carla Kekejian, creator of carla.types.
