Congratulations to Yuna Jo, one of the winners of the Film and Media Studies Summer Internship Award!
This summer Yuna completed her summer internship with Smoking Tiger Coffee & Bread branch at ARK FNC. Smoking Tiger is a specialty coffee shop and brand that aims to share the Korean culture without barriers through coffee and bread.
Yuna took part in maintaining its image and incorporating her skills and creativity to further push the success of Smoking Tiger as not just a coffee shop and a brand. Her internship included but was not limited to, marketing research, social media management, photography, videography, video editing, and film shoot schedule.
Through brainstorming ideas for Instagram and TikTok, assisting in the development of different campaigns, and producing consistent content for social media, Yuna was able to gain the knowledge and experience of how to manage a brand’s social media, from the logistics to the creative aspects. Yuna also learned the different marketing methods of building a brand, such as the storytelling route that utilizes a compelling story, not just products, to signify why what a brand does is important to them and why the consumers should care.
This scholarship is funded by a generous donation from UCI History alumni, Leon Dudevoir, in support of Film and Media Studies’ student internships. Mr. Dudevoir had a career as a film executive for New Line Cinemas, working on films like The Notebook, Rush Hour and Blade. He’s now retired and lives in Portland, and wanted to support current FMS students looking to enter the entertainment industry.
