On October 6 2018, the University of California, Irvine hosted the performance of William Saroyan's Unpublished Plays, directed by Aram Kouyoumdjian and performed by the original L.A. cast.

Houri Berberian, UCI Meghrouni Family Presidential Chair in Armenian Studies, commented on the event's relevance to the Armenian Studies field: "Saturday's unique and inspiring performance of William Saroyan's unpublished plays marking the author's 110th birthday resonated with the close to a hundred audience members. The performance invited reflection into Saroyan's work as an Armenian-American author as well as a reflection on issues relevant not only to the past and present Armenian diasporic experience but also to today's larger world. Migration, racism, longing, and identity were consistent themes that both moved and amused."

The event was held in the Little Theatre at UCI.
