Introducing Amy Pham; the newest member of the LGBTRC Team

Hey folks!

My name is Amy Pham (she/her/hers and they/them/theirs) and I’m so excited to be returning to UCI as the LGBTRC’s program coordinator. Some of you may already know me since I graduated from UCI in 2019 and interned at the LGBTRC from 2016-2019. My degree is in Public Health Policy with double minors in Gender & Sexuality Studies and Medical Anthropology. I hold education in high regard and dream of a world where LGBTQ+ people can live vibrantly in both their personal and professional lives.

Since graduating, I’ve worked several non-profit roles in local government and higher education. I worked for the City of Irvine as an art instructor and event planner before transitioning to a role as a learning experience designer for Connected Camps; a non-profit led by UCI professors dedicated to building a global online community where kids build, code, play, and learn from one another.

During my time at Connected Camps, I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring LGBTQ+ youth and college students in STEM while designing tools and curricula for virtual safe spaces. One of my favorite projects was a pronoun selection tool coded in Minecraft that allowed students to display their pronouns in game and try on new ones if they so desired. I hope to bring the same level of innovation and playfulness coming home to UCI.

Overall, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve (and slay) as the LGBTRC’s new program coordinator. Please do not hesitate to reach out and chat with me as I’d love to get to know each one of you.

Warm Regards & Happy Pride Month,

Amy
