A message from Houri Berberian

Dear Friends of UCI Center for Armenian Studies,

On Wednesday, April 28, the annual one-day online giving event, UCI Giving Day, will take place. I welcome you to join us and consider making a gift to the UCI Armenian Language Fund. While the ways in which we interface and engage have changed over the last year, our students continue to rely on our support. We need our community's help to ensure we have the resources to provide Armenian language instruction at UCI. Supporting Western Armenian language instruction means preserving an endangered language, valuing cultural awareness, and ensuring students can meet the core requirements of the minor in Armenian Studies.

We have learned how imperative it is for us to come together to make a collective impact. Our work would not be possible without individuals like you - individuals who are continuously thinking about how to help others. During this time, many are looking for ways to give back to their community and make a positive change. Giving Day is your chance to support our mission to raise awareness, build understanding, and foster appreciation and respect for Armenian culture, history, and language.

This year, to encourage strong participation from our community, Professor V. Ara Apkarian and Dr. Alice Apkarian have offered to match dollar for dollar up to $10,000 raised toward the Armenian Language Fund during Giving Day.  We are grateful for Professor and Dr. Apkarian's generous spirit and hope that you will join them and help us double the support for our students. Please help us make Giving Day a great success for our students by making your gift, by sharing our campaign with your friends and family, and by liking our posts on social media.  With your support, we can have a lasting impact on our students striving to learn and preserve the Western Armenian Language.

Please mark your calendar for April 28 and visit the givingday.uci.edu to learn more. We are grateful for the strong support of our UCI Armenian Studies community. I hope you and your family continue to be healthy and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Houri Berberian
