The National Moment of Remembrance is an annual event that asks Americans, wherever they are at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, to pause for a duration of one minute to remember those who have died in military service to the United States. 🇺🇲

Launched by a Communication Studies senior, Lauren Frost wants to "build people up and give them the tools to be successful and to stay successful." Congratulations to Mitch Hokanson, who was awarded a $16,000 scholarship from The Beavers Charitable Trust. The Dutra Scholarship is awarded to a student with experience in construction and who intends to pursue a career in the heavy construction industry. Mitch is a first-generation college student raised by a single mother, and is the father of a two-year-old son. According to Mitch, “I watched how hard my mother worked in order to make a better life for me which is why I know that whether I see it now or not, the work that I put in pays off later.

Meet senior Josie Hanel, who will be one of three graduates representing the Class of 2021 during commencement on June 12. As a first-generation college student from Lakeview, Josie attributes her success to the support of her parents, grandparents, TOP advisors & her faculty members. Josie’s campus involvement includes being an active member of Kappa Xi Alpha sorority & participating in many campus & community service events.
