Everyone has a story to tell, but not everyone knows how to tell it...
In the spring of 2019. Literary Journalism received a donation from UCI Humanities alumna Lavonne Smith to fund the first part of an ambitious project, aimed at recognizing the role of stories in our everyday lives. Smith's gift provided crucial funding for our Storytelling Lab, which forms the core of the Center's research and outreach programming.
Open to the campus and public since 2023, the StoryLab serves as an on-campus research hub and first of its kind maker space for true stories.
Today, the Lab, located in Humanities Hall 269, is a physical gathering space, a state-of-the-art recording studio, and a tutoring center offering drop-in advising hours for storytellers of all backgrounds.
Visit this page for updates on weekly drop-in hours, offered during the academic year between September and June. We hope to see you in the Lab to discuss and share the stories that matter to you!
