DeShawn is a scholar of Immanuel Kant's Enlightenment Critical philosophy and pragmatic Anthropology. 5th year, ABD, in UCI's Culture & Theory department, his teaching interests remain critical of the discursive subject-positions given discourses construct for us. To the extent we are obligated to take up the ideal subject-spectator position if a given discourse is to make sense and / or we desire to legimately participate in the exchange of shared meaning, DeShawn's teaching philosophy assists students in deconstructing the ideal subject position, over-turning it, while remaining, more or less, within the realm of epistemic legitimacy and the 'sayable'.
