In this work-in-progress, we will revisit the emergence of Greek theatrical tradition from the healing dreams of patients in the Asklepian hospice, the hospice that gave birth to the Athenian stage.

Anthony Kubiak is Professor of Drama at the University of California, Irvine.  He teaches classes in theater and dream, healing performance, being-masking, and neo-shamanic theaters. He is the author of  Agitated States: Performance in the American Theater of Cruelty, and Stages of Terror: Terrorism, Ideology, and Coercion as Theatre History. He is currently finishing a book, Calling the Soul: Shamanism, Tantra, and Healing Performance.

Over the past fifteen years, Tony has been working with meditation, dream and healing practices grounded in Tibetan Buddhism and medicine, and Himalayan, Peruvian and shamanic traditions. He is also trained in Family Constellation work, post-Jungian dreamwork. All of his work is supported by his daily meditation practice.
