Arvin Maghsoudlou is the Gramian-Emrani Family Curatorial Fellow in Ancient Iranian Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), holding a PhD in Art History from Southern Methodist University. He specializes in the art of late antique Iran, with a particular interest in materiality, sensory studies, and technical art history. Before joining LACMA, he was a Teaching Fellow at SMU, where he taught courses on the art of Iran, ancient West Asia, and the Islamic world. Dr. Maghsoudlou was also previously the Andrew W. Mellon Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he advanced his research on late antique Iranian silver vessels. His most recent publications include a study of the reception of Sasanian rock reliefs, published in Ancient West and East, as well as a forthcoming article in Ars Orientalis which explores the sensory experience of silver cups in late antique Iran.
