Jacob Hyatt is a graduate of the MFA Program in Writing (Fiction) at the University of California, Irvine. When not at work writing fiction, he also teaches various courses for the Composition Program at UCI. His teaching interests include the study of genre, rhetoric, and argumentation as well as topics such as fairy tales, the American education system, popular culture, and the relationship between art and audiences.

Course Description:
- This WR 60 course explores the nuances of the American education system, with a particular emphasis on the social, political, and economic factors that shape it. A range of education-related topics are explored, from racism to technological advances to the history and current state of American education. These ideas are used as a foundation for discussions about strong argumentation and research skills and how to use these skills to better the world around us.
