Katie is a PhD candidate in the English Department at UCI. Her research focuses on gender, embodiment, and political power in early modern literature (particularly Shakespeare). She enjoys helping students figure out how writing fits into their lives, and her teaching focuses on letting curiosity drive the exploration of texts. She is also invested in fostering community in the classroom, inviting students to think of themselves as being in a relationship not just with their instructor and classmates, but with course texts and their authors—a broader intellectual community in which each student has a voice.
