Defining Applied Jain Studies
April 22-23, 2023 | Virtual Event
The phrase "Applied Jainism" is often used to describe a newly-emerging method of applying Jain principles to the manifold challenges of everyday life. These challenges include personal life, family life, work life, corporate life, social justice, environmental degradation, climate change, animal advocacy, and many other dimensions where individuals and society are seeking inspiration and hope in our shared times of struggle.
Arihanta Academy is organizing, sponsoring, and hosting a conference with invited scholars of the Jain tradition and allied fields of inquiry to more precisely define what we mean by the term "Applied Jain Studies".
Professor Brianne Donaldson is presenting on Saturday, April 22, 11:00-11:20 am. The presentation title is "Recovery Scholarship" and the Jain Declaration on the Climate Crisis.
