On January 26th, 2016, Claremont Graduate University announced the finalists for the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award which grants $100,00 to a mid-career poet of a current book. Professor Amy Gerstler, a faculty member in our M.F.A. program in poetry, was chosen as one of the five finalists for the award. The title of her new collection, Scattered at Sea (Penguin Books, 2015) evokes notions of dispersion, diaspora, sowing one's wild oats, having one's mind expanded or blown, losing one's wits, and mortality.
