Offering the study of more than a dozen languages, the School of Humanities at UC Irvine is a gateway to the wider world. From ancient to contemporary, understanding history prepares us – intellectually, culturally and linguistically – to engage with diverse people and ideas from across the globe and within our own neighborhoods. Our faculty teach works of literature, art and history from many times and places so that students are empowered to engage critically with their own cultures and imagine our shared futures.
