How can we bring the methods of humanities to bear on debates around the socio-technical products called “AI,” while avoiding both FOMO and what Wendy Hui Kyong Chun calls “humanities-washing”? Let’s explore together as we look critically at an industry-produced report (by Anthropic or Google, for example) paired with a relevant academic work from the humanities. Bring your lunch or snacks for the first reading group meeting!
