Telling Erosion: Gestures of Disintegration in Puerto Rican Art and Literature

A Talk by Dr. Pedro Rolon

October 7, 2024 5:30-7:30PM

Humanities Instructional Building 137

This talk will focus on recent work by Puerto Rican artists whose thematic and material concerns draw our attention to maritime zones, broadly, and to erosion as a phenomenon, in particular. By foregrounding these contemporary examples through key moments in Puerto Rican literary history between the 19th and 20th centuries, I will offer erosion as a conceptual lens to revisit the question of a Puerto Rican subiect under colonialism as it emerges in its literature and art.
