The Department of History offers seven certificate programs that are open to all UCI undergraduates, regardless of School or Major. These programs allow students to study history through the lens of interdisciplinary thematic emphases and in dialogue with such adjacent fields as Law or Media Studies. Earning a certificate helps students to document their specialist knowledge and thereby to enhance their professional profiles, CVs and resumés, and applications for employment and graduate school.

Eligibility: The UCI History Department certificate program is open to all UCI undergraduates, regardless of School or Major.

Criteria:

  1. Students must complete four courses from among those listed for each certificate and maintain a minimum combined GPA of 3.0 in those courses. Eligible courses will be updated annually.
  2. Please note the following conditions and restrictions:
  • Students may apply a given course to one certificate only, even if that course is listed under other certificate categories.
  • Students may apply for as many certificates for which they are eligible.
  • Only UCI History courses are recognized. No substitutions are allowed; please do not ask for exceptions.
