Maximum amount of grant: $1500
With this grant, we hope to support:
1) Film festival attendance and submission
2) Film and/or media industry workshop attendance and registration
3) Archival research on Honors thesis or film project
4) Film production completion
Deadline for submissions: Thursday, December 8, 2016
Please submit FOUR hard copies of your application by 5:00 pm to Eva Yonas in HG 2012.

Application requirements:
1. Brief letter support from a member of the FMS Core Faculty who will serve as the mentor for the project. Faculty list available here: https://www.humanities.uci.edu/filmandmediastudies/people/index.php
2. a. For research: Project narrative and rationale as well as writing sample (no more than 20 double spaced pages total)
b. For industry workshop/film festival: Project narrative describing how participation will help you reach your goals as a Film and Media Studies major.
c. For film production: Treatment/screenplay and a DVD reel of previous work, or link to shorts on line
(Note: if your project has overlapping areas – research and film production, for example, or film festival and research – please submit all related application materials.)
3. Project goals (250 words): Describe how the grant will help you reach your goals as an undergraduate Film and Media Studies Major.
4. Detailed budget including all expected costs – maximum amount of grant is $1500.
Permissible expenses for film festivals: submission or registration fees, ticket purchase, travel and lodging costs
Permissible expenses for workshops: submission or registration fees, ticket purchase, travel and lodging costs
Permissible expenses for research: registration/admission costs for archive, travel and lodging costs, book and film purchases
Permissible expenses for film production: location rental, prop rental, equipment rental. No equipment may be purchased outright using this grant.
Other expenses may be approved for all grantees as appropriate. Please include all expected costs that you wish to be covered by the grant in your detailed budget.
Upon your return from the festival or workshop, please make a short video report of your experience that we can include on the FMS website. Upon completion of your research paper, please file a digital copy with us so that we can feature your work on the FMS website. Upon completion of your film project funded by the grant, please provide the FMS Department with a copy of your film. You must include the UC Irvine Film & Media Studies Undergraduate Production, Research, and Travel Grant in your production credits or in your research paper credits.
