The exhibition, Particles and Waves: Southern California Abstraction and Modern Physics, 1945 to 1980, is part of the Getty’s arts initiative, Pacific Standard Time. This initiative includes dozens of exhibitions, publications, performances, public conversations and programs across Southern California. The works included are focused on the intertwined histories of art and science and the past and present. Together, these works will address some of the most complex challenges of the 21st century—from climate change and environmental racism to the current pandemic and artificial intelligence—and the creative solutions these problems require.
