Graduate Fellowship in Latinx Studies

The UCI Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies invites applications for the Graduate Fellowships in Latinx Studies, for summer research or writing, generously funded by Marilyn Sutton.

  • Application deadline: April 13th, 2026

  • Award amount: one award of $2,500 

  • Notification: by May 18th, 2026

Eligibility: 

PhD candidates working on US-Latinx studies, enrolled in a School of Humanities Department or Program. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.

Fellowships will be disbursed in July 2026 and should be used towards research travel, dissertation writing or other activities that allow the student to advance his/her career during the summer.

Requirements: 

Project description (two page maximum); CV (one page maximum)

Applications must be submitted online by Monday, April 13th, 11:59 p.m. using our application portal: https://ucihumanities.infoready4.com/.

If this is your first time applying through InfoReady, immediately click on your name in top right corner. Add your department in the School of Humanities, as your primary unit. 

  1. Select Graduate Fellowships in Latinx Studies 2026 from the list of open competitions.

  2. Complete the application form, including

  • Name

  • Department

  • Year and quarter achieved candidacy

  • Dissertation advisor/committee chair name and email address

  • Project title

  1. Upload a project narrative and CV as a single PDF.

  • 1-2 pages description of the project or work to be completed during the fellowship period.

  • 1-page C.V.
