Music as Religious Practice: An Introduction to the Shakuhachi

Join us for a discussion and listening session of the shakuhachi, a bamboo flute that originated in 8th-century Japan and is associated with Zen Buddhism. The demonstration will be performed by UCI's professor of music and Grammy-winning ensemble member, Prof. Kōjirō Umezaki. All are welcome to attend; please come early for optimal seating.
