Christopher Harris employs a wide variety of technical and formal approaches in his films and installations, including manually and photo-chemically altered appropriated moving images, staged re-enactments and interrogations of documentary conventions. His work has appeared widely at festivals, museums and cinematheques from solo screenings at the Museum of Modern Art, the Locarno Film Festival, and Arsenal Berlin to group screenings at the New York Film Festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among many others. His honors include the 2022 Ground Glass Award from Prismatic Ground for outstanding contribution in the field of experimental media, a Creative Capital Award, the Los Angeles Filmforum Artist Project Grant, a Wexner Center for the Arts Artist Residency Award and fellowships from Radcliffe, Chrysalis, and Alpert/MacDowell. Writing about his work and interviews with Harris have appeared in Art in America, Film Comment, BOMB Magazine and Film Quarterly as well as numerous books and journals.
